I called home tonight, and my aunt answered the phone. She asked if I'd heard the news. What news? I said. My step dad died Friday night of a heart attack.
Disbelief. Grief. Shock. Sadness.
It was hard to talk to my mom half the world away like this. She lost her best friend.
