so monday at lunch i wasn't feeling to well, thought i just had hunger pains. I ate lunch, and the pain was still there. Dang, I have some kind of stomach flu right? The pains kept getting worse throught the evening, so I took some ibuprofen and felt slightly better. I took some of my pain killers for migrains so at least i could sleep. I had to get up early to talk with my advisor at 8:30. After my meeting with her, I went back to bed for the rest of they day. I awoke at 4 and the pain was really really bad. I decided I should walk over to our medical center. To make a long story short the doctor there ended up sending me to Home Hospital for possible appendicitis after taking a blood test, which showed my white blood cell count really high. I took an ambulance over, which was the first time i actually remember being in on..haha. I was in the ER for a while, and had to drink this nasty contrast for the CT scan. I had 3 CTs and one they injected iodine, which made me feel really warm in places. They said "it'll feel like you just wet yourself" --- yeah it did. freakin' weird feeling. But the CT nurse, jesse, was really hot. Anyway, a nurse came back about an hour later and said that my appendix was staring back at the doctor and needed to come out. damn. So at about 10pm I rolled into the surgery room with Dr. Smith, who just arrived in his boots and cowboy hat... I was wheeled into the surgery room which i'm sure was about 60 degrees, but only to be met by another hot nurse. I saw the anesthesiologist put a drip bag up, and about 3 seconds later I was out. I briefly woke at 12:05 in the recovery room. But I next found myself in my permanent hospital room 3335 woken up by my dad at about 1:30, with an incision in my belly button, one right below it with three staples, and on up and to my right with two staples. My mom showed up the next day. They both stayed with me for the whole day, with my sister coming up after work at 6:30. I was put on a clear liquid diet which was --- yummy... I never realized how difficult it could be to just walk, so much pain. And yet peeing was worse. The surgeon i guess had to move my bladder. It's getting better now, but its hard to hold a steady stream. (tmi? sorry) So i finally got the ok to go home this morning so after lunch I got my paper work done and was able to come back to my room. Which, is going to be like my hospital room for the next few days, nothing but bed rest and liquids. I did ask my surgeon why they shaved a 6x6 area on my upper left thigh. "grounding" i guess they needed a grounding plate for the laparoscopic electrodes. I got some electrical engineering teaching in the hospital...
well im back now in my room, in pain mostly. Definaltely not going to class tomorrow to take 2 tests because they gave me a note :) . I'm just happy to be back an be able to take a shower, shave, and brush my teeth. I am about 2 belt sizes bigger right now because of the air still in my belly from the laproscopic surgery, which is probably the biggest bitch. There is internal pressure pushing out on the incisions.
