so 2nd hour today, i was video taping a class for IAIT, when something weird starting happening to me. first i started to feel nauseous, then dizzy. I then started feeling light headed and my vision started to black out. I broke out into a sweat and was incredibly weak. This was all in a matter of a maybe a minute or two. I left the room and went to a drinking fountain and sat down. It passed with a few minutes. idk what that was about.
tonight i was reading over some Pike history documents, preparing for AP class's second post initiation (history etc), when i read LXA's letter to Dr. Jess Lucus (the dean of students then). A section is as follows (which is quite humorous):
"First of all, I would like to point out that the NUMBER ONE OBJECTIVE of every SOCIAL FRATERNITY in the world is the cultivation of BROTHERHOOD within that group. The purpose of a fraternity is to have men grow together: by succeeding together, failing together, having good times together and distressing times together. I don't think that these men realize what brotherhod would do to their chapter. I don't think that these men realize that when they rush, they will ask men to join because they like them, regardless of their grades. These men don't realize that within three years, their grades would be somewhere near the all-men's G.P.A. just like the other seven's are now. These men do not realize that chapter by-laws can be changed, just as the personality of their chapter would change slightly with every few years. These men do not realize that whatever "new" choices they add now probably won't exist in a few years. These men do not realize that their main differences, alcohol policy and grades, are not backed up by the Pi Kappa Alpha Constitution (since thee national fraternity is neither dry nor an honorary) and therefore will not withstand the test of time. These men do not realize that our Lambda Chi Alpha chapter did not allow any alcohol inside of its house in 1960. That policy is only one example of how things change over the years." - president LCA, Robert Wilkins
Well, first of all fuck the Lambda Chi! They are trying to say that alcohol abuse is not independent of Brotherhood? idiots. That failing is inevitable? idiots. Do they realize that we still have a higher standard that rose for grades (2.3 quarterly)? idiots. We rush on SLAG: Scholars, Leaders, Athletes, Gentlemen. We are the highest GPA fraternity at rose--well above the student body average--and always have been. We still offer a better alternative to the other 7. This has not changed. Pi Kappa Alpha's constitution/by laws/standards of retention DO back up our policy on alcohol use; and Pi Kappa Alpha's international slogan and rush objectives includes being a scholar. Besides is it our fault that LCA has failed themselves since the '60s? idiots.
