first day of classes tomorrow. already have politics cancelled for thurs and fri, yet we have hw due monday... i facebooked those in the politics class and it looks like i'll be having quite a discussion EVERY day... including me 4 conservatives; 3 moderates; 1 libertarian; and the rest are either liberal or very liberal (sans a few that are too much of a tool to even be on facebook) oh joy! cut throat liberals every day... now i really need to read the book: how to talk to a liberal (if you must) by Ann Coulter. At least my prof is a republican--considering he is the staff advisor to the College Republicans.

| Rose-Hulman #1 Again - 7th year in a row |
| 08.18.05 (11:19 pm) [edit] |
Congratulations, Rose-Hulman is ranked No. 1 AGAIN!
Because of your dedication, hard work and talents, Rose-Hulman has for the seventh consecutive year been ranked No. 1 by engineering educators who responded to the annual survey conducted by U.S. News & World Report.
The ranking is a continuing source of pride for everyone associated with Rose-Hulman. Achieving the top ranking is difficult, but continuing to be considered the best year after year is even more of a challenge. We must all be committed to continuous improvement as we develop new and innovative ways to enhance the education we provide to our students.
The No. 1 ranking is a testament to the continuing commitment all Rose-Hulman constituents make each day. All of us should take pride in the national recognition of these skills and efforts. I look forward to the opportunity of interacting with the Rose-Hulman community to continue this outstanding achievement. -- Robert Bright
------------------- news release issued Thursday evening------------------ ------------ Rose-Hulman Ranked No. 1 Undergraduate Engineering Program for 7th Consecutive Year in U.S. News & World Report's "America's Best Colleges"
Terre Haute, Ind.-For the seventh consecutive year, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has been ranked first by engineering educators as the nation's best college or university that offers the bachelor's or master's degree as its highest degree in engineering, according to new rankings that will be included in the 2006 edition of "America's Best Colleges" guidebook published by U.S. News & World Report. The rankings are based on the results of a peer survey of deans and senior faculty conducted by the magazine. Fifty percent of those surveyed returned ratings for the undergraduate engineering programs category. Each engineering program at Rose-Hulman that is ranked in the survey has now been ranked as the nation's best each year that the magazine's survey has included a ranking of individual programs. Retaining their top ranking for the sixth straight year were degree programs in chemical, civil, computer, electrical, and mechanical engineering. Following Rose-Hulman on the list of top undergraduate engineering programs were Harvey Mudd College, Cooper Union, the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Air Force Academy, Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, Bucknell University and Swarthmore College. "To be considered repeatedly by our engineering education colleagues as the best college or university in this category is a result of the hard work and talents of our faculty, staff, students and alumni," stated Robert Bright, chairman of the Rose-Hulman Board of Trustees and chief executive officer. Bright noted that students and their families should not make a college choice based only on the magazine's rankings. "While Rose-Hulman takes pride in its No. 1 ranking, students should consider many factors when deciding which college or university to attend," he said. "As an example, students should schedule a well organized campus visit to insure that they are making the right decision as to which institution best meets their needs," he explained. The 2006 edition of "America's Best Colleges" will be available Aug. 22.
